Every week, she watches my daughter while I work,
and it was not easy, caring for a child on my own,
but (NAME) has always loved me so unconditionally,
I'm very grateful for all the love that she's shown.
I'm proud to be your "favourite" first grandchild,
and that's what you tell everyone I know,
you then go into detail what I did as a child,
I guess you've always been proud watching me grow.
They found some problems that I'd been fighting for years,
and this meant that I could no longer give birth
it broke my heart I couldn't give you a child of your own,
it was about then I found out your true and honest worth.
You said you would love it if I would write you a poem,
but I know that you're very creative, and I am not at all,
but in anything I have ever done, you've supported me 110%,
and I am just so very glad that you made that initial call.
(NAME) had numerous stories about her childhood,
the farm, walking to school and having the first Model T,
and I remember as a child myself, trips to Aunt (NAME),
we'd play with the cousins (and that was a great place to be).

Our child will have a wonderful mother,
you are caring, loving, thoughtful and kind,
and I'm looking forward to our future,
our three destinies are forever entwined.
You are the love of my life,
which just happens to coincide with Valentine,
so quite fittingly, I wanted to tell about a love,
about a love, that luckily is all mine.
Ah, Mignonne, in how few hours,
The petals of her purple flowers
All have faded, fallen, died;
Sad Nature, mother ruinous,
That seest thy fair child perish thus
'Twixt matin song and even tide.
You wrote and read a poem at your father?s service,
and you spoke about him missing your wedding day,
and although that one line expresses so much,
it still means there's so much left to say:
I remember we waited until it was midnight,
just so we could spend Valentine's Day together,
I felt so safe, so loved in your arms,
it's a place that I should've stayed forever and ever.
She was from (PLACE), she was an awesome bowler,
Swedish heritage but became an Italian through and through,
she was proud of her large family (she was an only child),
and all twenty Eight say: "(NAME), we're very proud of you"
You see, you've grown up so beautifully,
and remember, I've know you since you were a child,
but I must admit, at times, you've worried me,
and there were parts of you that had grown a little wild.
I know that today is Wednesday, not Monday,
but every day of the year, you're my Valentine,
and I know I don't wear my heart on my sleeve often,
but today, you'll hear my love for you in every
line.

(NAME), I just wanted to say "Happy Valentine's Day",
I love you for who and what you are,
and if my love for your were a distance,
well, it would be further than the furthest star.
I'll never forget the marina nor the sunset,
as the sun was setting I announced our new dawn,
and I'd like to thank for our miracle child,
I felt complete on the day that he was born.
