A poem from the Bride to her Parents saying she is the last of their children to be married but she will always be their baby.
We have been asked not to publish the details of this request.
Special Place
Ladies and gentlemen,
can I have your attention please?
Every now and then in life,
there's opportunity you should seize.
Because days, weeks, months happen
and the years they can go so fast,
and words that should get said, don't,
and if they do they never last.
So I'm going to change all that,
change it right here and right now,
I hope the right words come along,
I'll give it my best shot - anyhow.
You see, there are two very special people,
and that's really what these words are for,
my Mom and Dad have been simply marvelous,
and this baby will love them for evermore.
They simply mean the world to me,
their love has kept me so wonderfully warm and safe,
their love is a fine example for a new bride,
they've taught me the importance of family, trust and faith.
They've done so very much for me,
they've been my inspiration, my light,
and their love has shone for me,
and it has shone so powerfully and wonderfully bright.
They are still the whole world to me,
even though I've picked up a husband along the way,
and I need them to know that I love them,
and that I'm proud of them, on this my wedding day.
It's also time for a confession;
(and I'll admit this happens every now and then),
but sometimes I get very nostalgic,
and I wish I could be their little girl again.
Because my childhood was simply wonderful,
full of happiness and puppy dogs tails,
and compared to the light that they've given me,
the midday sun, in comparison, pales.
And they say that blood is thicker than water,
but I know, for a fact, that this just isn't true,
and I'm so proud of my father, my Dad,
(and of course, I'm proud of my Mom too).
Throughout my twenty seven years,
they have given me more than their love,
and I'll be eternally grateful to them both,
and, of course, to God in the heavens above.
Because, words can't describe the love I feel for them,
at times, I wouldn't have made it without them by my side,
and whenever I speak of them,
it is always with a great sense of pride.
Now, I know I'm the last to be married off,
but don't worry, I'll be your baby for evermore,
and I just wanted to say thanks,
that's really what these words are for.
And now you'll have to share my love,
but I know that we'll never part,
because although, of course, I love my husband,
you'll always have a very special place in my heart. |
