A poem to be read as a toast to the Bride and Groom from two special friends.
We have been asked not to publish the details of this request.
Randy and Jill
Ladies and gentlemen please,
and I don't mean to start a riot,
but we do have a story to tell,
and we will need a little quiet...
Hello, my name is Chris,
Randy and Jill are one of our closest friends,
and we thought we'd share a few lines with you,
that we previously arranged to have penned.
Excuse me, (hello, my name is Erica),
move over, you need to share the spotlight,
because I'm also going to have my say,
and you know by now that's a woman's right !
Randy and Jill go back to high school,
sweethearts from the moment they met,
they've been together for over eight years now,
(it took a long time for the wedding cake to set) !
They've been together that long,
they now know what love truly means,
and if they were remaking "Love Story",
then they would make one of the nicer scenes.
But just before we have a toast,
we'd like to take you back,
and tell you a couple of stories,
strolling down the memory track.
Coming from a friends party,
Jill driving down 294,
Crashing through the toll gate,
As she had never done before.
And do you remember that cold winter's day,
(Randy and Jill had gone to look at some trees...),
"Chris, I'm stuck in the forest and it's oh so cold,
please come and pull me out, pretty pleeeaaaase" !
Randy is an electrician,
so you could say that he likes a beer,
and boy there are more stories I could tell,
and I will - but not now and not here !
And I guess our most memorable moment,
(and who could ever forget RJ ?),
we were so happy for them both,
we will never forget his birth day.
These two won't talk much when they get home,
and that is my only fear,
because there's nothing left to say,
after talking about this beautiful wedding all year !
But all the talk has been worth it,
and we've all had such a wonderful time,
and you two are made for each other,
you've simply put all these words into rhyme.
And we just wanted to wish you luck,
that is what we really wanted to say,
and that we're proud to know you both,
and to be standing here on your wedding day. |
