A Brides vows in a poem to be read during the ceremony, expressing her faith, love and hope for the future
What is your name : Christina Hawkins
Who do you want the poem written for: I need a love poem for our wedding that expresses our love for each other.
Why do you want the poem written: I would like to have life long memory of our wedding. I wrote my fiance a valentine's day poem and he loved it. So,I thought a touching poem during our wedding ceremony would seal our love as we take our marriage vows. My poem was entitled "chocolate love" and it was a bit too personal to be read at a ceremony:)
What are the key messages you would like to send: Messages of faith, love, hope as we begin a new life together. A scripture sums it up for me : Beloved,I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health even as thy soul prospereth- 3John 1:2. This poem can be about the power of love and a promising future ahead of us.
Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: The most memorable times that we have shared have been during trips out-of-town. We went to Busch Gardens and he bragged about how he is not scared of anything. Well, I convinced him to get on this ride called the "Qwazi." This ride takes your picture while you on the ride. After the ride was over, they showed the pictures and there he was looking more petrified than anyone I have seen in my entire life. I couldn't stop laughing all day. The entire day I couldn't get him on anymore roller coaster rides. It was the same thing with Space Mountain-he screamed. He said he was scared for his life. (laughing) It was too funny. It's no wonder he enjoyed Disney World better (with the slower rides). The next memorable experience, We went shopping down in Miami and at the end of the day it began to rain very hard. So, after waiting an hour or so for it let up. He decided to run out into the parking lot (without an umbrella) and bring the SUV up to pick me up. As I stood there in front of the mall with a plethora of people waiting along side me, he not only drove up to the curve, he back up over the curve, all the way to front of the doors (approx. 20-25 feet or more), popped the trunk, jumped out and got the bags while I comfortably slide into the passenger side without so much a rain drop touching me. It was unexpected and some woman clapped and said "Girl, you have good man." They were impressed and so was I. I never forgot it. We went on a trip for Valentine's day. He let me believe that he wasn't going to get me anything for Valentine's day the whole trip. I played it cool and said "it was okay that our love is much more than any thing he could buy any way." So, on Valentine's day, I gave read him the poem I had written to him and a gift. He loved everything and went on with our day. At the end of the day, when I had pretty much had given up on receiving any thing. He pulled out a sing rose, jewelry and a card. That was cruel but worth the wait. He is the sweetest guy I know.
Do you have any other comments or thoughts: Our wedding theme is centered around 1 Corinthians 13:7-8 "Love never Fails" The wedding ceremony is July 10th,2004

Love Never Fails
Beloved, I wish above all things,
that thou may prosper and be in health,
even as thy soul prospereth,
I wish for you much more than material wealth.
For our love is the most important thing,
compared to anything else, it's poorly pale,
and as sure as I am standing here,
my love for you will never, ever fail.
We're talking much more than chocolate,
yes, we're talking about our love,
I know I've been blessed to have found you,
I know I've been blessed by the heavens above.
We've shared so many wonderful moments,
in fact, too many to individually list,
just know that every one is precious to me,
there's not one that I would have missed.
You told me you weren't scared of anything,
but you should have seen your face on that Qwazi ride,
although you also screamed on Space Mountain,
I know I couldn't have picked a braver partner - even if I'd tried.
Because you braved the weather for me in Miami,
and you did just what a gentleman can,
you backed up to the front of the doors,
the women clapped and said "Girl, you have a good man".
Never a truer word has been spoken,
even though they were probably said in jest,
because I know your true worth,
and let me tell you, you're the very best.
You made me wait on Valentine's Day,
you made me wait until the very end,
but you'd already given me the greatest gift of all,
because husband to be, you're my very best friend.
I just wanted to say I love you,
(as we head for our ports and set our sails),
I pray for fair winds and calm seas,
but no matter what, I know that love never fails. |
