Who do you want the poem written for: Michele Hardre - (ex-partner, now friend and co-parent to our daughter)

Why do you want the poem written: Michele's 50th birthday.

What are the key messages you would like to send: I want to acknowledge Michele's gifts to others. I want her qualities to be recognized and awarded. Michele is a generous friend. She will do anything to help her friends and family. She is a loving and dedicated parent, involved in all of Madeleine's activities.

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: Michele is always working on projects around her house. She spent last summer laying the cement sidewalk for the pool area- one-bag-at-a time, by hand! She does her own construction around the house. She put on a new roof, layed the flooring throughout the house, fabricated interior walls, installed windows thoughtout the house, rewired electrical and plumbing, and expanded her garage as well as landscaped and the front and back yards (all with her own sweat labor). The most significant memory or accolades about Michele has been her devotion and dedication to Madeleine (our daughter). When Madeleine was a baby, still in her carrier, she would be with Michele during her construction projects working on houses. Even as Madeleine was a toddler, there she was with Michele while she was working on the cars, mowing the lawns, fixing the plumbing. Madeleine is her life and joy (whether she admits it openly). Madeleine is her reason for being.

Do you have any other comments or thoughts: Michele's qualities include: unique, one-of-a-kind, can fix anything - make anthing, build anything, restore anything, she drives fast- if you can catch her in her Mercedes, BMW convertable or pick-up truck, she is extremely frugal with her money (recycles everything, uses it multiple times!), but is also wise with her money (good financial manager in business loans), she does like to gamble - 21 and poker, she enjoys cooking her secret-flavored fabulous BBQ ribs, her house is always open for company (literally), she makes friends wherever she is.

What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): Happy, touching, not too mushy.

Do you have any last comments or thoughts: Michele is a French name with an accent over the first e. Hardre has an accent over the last e. Michele is quite masculine, would prefer a more "manly" perspective, not girly-girly.

Michele's Gift

In life there are many stories, and sadly, some chapters have to end, but that doesn't mean the words are over, because I just want to say "hello friend". And you are such a generous friend at that, you'll do anything to help your friends and family, you're a loving and dedicated parent to Madeleine, you've made all our worlds a better place to be. You're always working on projects around the house, you spent one whole summer laying the sidewalk, you've put on a new roof, laid the floor, built walls, you've rebuilt the place where we gather and happily talk. You've always been so dedicated to Madeleine, and there's never been a finer parent on this Earth, actually, Madeleine is your reason for being, and she knows exactly what a mother's love is truly worth. She's helped you with all of your construction projects, even though she was still a toddler at the time, she was there, fixing cars, mowing lawns, fixing the plumbing, quite amazing, she even got these words to rhyme. You are extremely frugal with your money, but it does make good sense to use things twice, and of all the quick building, fast driving financial managers, well, I've never known one even half as nice. However, you do like the occasional gamble, 21 and Poker are your favorite bets, and your secret flavored fabulous BBQ ribs, well, the recipe is something no one ever gets. Michele, you are a unique and one-of-a-kind woman, you can fix, make, build, restore most anything, and you have so many other wonderful qualities, to us all, there's so much that you bring. And I just wanted to say I'm proud of you, and I'm not trying give you an artificial lift, but I wanted to recognize your qualities and talents, Michele, I really wanted to thank you for your gift. Because your friendship is our gift, and that's one of the greatest gifts of all, and we just wanted to thank you for your kindness, you've performed many wonders, both large and small. And we also wanted to say "Happy 50th Birthday", I guess that's really what these words are for, here's to you, Michele, you're truly wonderful, and here's to at least another fifty more.
