A rebellious daughter sending a special gift to father.
A Tribute
There was once a girl,
Whose story I should tell,
I think am very qualified,
Because I know her so well.
A daughter should be close,
And love her one and only Dad,
And he should have been,
The best friend she ever had.
But things in this life,
Don't always work out that way,
And she was a teenage rebel,
And they fought near every day.
And then came the boys,
With one going a little too far,
A night of unbridled passion,
In the back seat of his car.
So she was married early,
But some things just can't wait,
Some things are just an accident,
Maybe some things are just fate.
Because the boyfriend has stuck by her,
And he has made her his wife,
And now the rebellious teenager,
Has grown up with a life.
There's one other reason,
That I'm living so happily,
And that is the unconditional love,
That you have given me.
You are so honest and trustworthy,
As tough and strong as they come,
You've never given up on me,
Even as a teenage Mum.
And you have stuck by me,
And have wiped away my tears,
You've always been there for me,
Even through the troubled years.
Your grand-daughter makes you so proud,
And as happy as you can be,
And you're beginning to accept my husband,
Albeit, a little begrudgingly !
And now I just want to say thank you,
Thanks for all the years that we've had,
Thanks for not giving up on me,
And a very special thanks,
Thanks for being my Dad. |
