A 50th Anniversary Gift for Parents, they have known each other since they were knee high, waited many years for a baby then along came one after another.
We have been asked not to publish the details of this request.
Mountain Roads and Country Sky
Kay and Ken have known each other,
since they were knee high,
grew up in Woodway, Virginia,
mountain roads and country sky.
Kay lived at Gilliam?s Caf?,
a happening place according to local folk,
but the music and dancing had to stop,
when a tricycle was on the dance floor!
She loved her Maw Maw and Granddaddy,
who farmed near Pennington Gap,
Kay was ready to visit,
as fast as her mother?s fingers could snap.
Ken lived across from the Caf?,
with his brothers and his mom and dad,
driving the local school bus,
is the most fun that they ever had!
He also recalls Granny Rivers? farm,
on Sunday afternoons,
a hot day, cool watermelon in the creek,
hating to say good-bye so soon.
Kay and Ken started dating,
while going to Pennington High,
Kay thought Ken was so fine,
she resolved that one day ?he?d be mine?!
Ken joined the Air Force at seventeen,
and pretty soon asked Kay to be his bride,
needed someone special to accompany him,
on what can be life?s roller coaster ride.
They quickly moved from town to town,
saw so many breathtaking scenes,
from Florida to Bermuda to Oklahoma,
and many more places in between!
They loved having parties with their friends,
Ken would blend and head for the grub,
while Kay would surprise the new member,
with her initiation into The Cows Club!
Kendra was born in 54,
had to wait awhile for a younger spawn,
spent twelve years waiting and waiting,
her wish fulfilled when Tracy came along.
As the old saying goes,
it never rains but it pours,
because 15 short months later
Kasey came into the world with a roar!
Fast forward to the end of military life,
another type of service for Postman Ken,
never quite got used to dogs chasing him,
again, again and again!
Do you remember instant mashed potatoes,
and opening a can of green beans?
Kay?s cooking improved over time,
Ken saying ?I?d like seconds, please?!
She got better as the years have gone by,
but still makes the palest cornbread ever seen,
so you can see it?s without a doubt,
that we call her the Microwave Queen!
Ken and Kay are sometimes poles apart,
they do say that opposites attract,
Kay likes it hot and Ken likes it cold,
not hearsay, but a matter of fact.
But there are things that they do share,
they are both one eyed Tampa Bay fans,
and whenever there is a game on,
you?d better not make any plans.
The computer is a common treat,
Kay sending jokes to family and friends,
Ken calculating their 1040,
to bring it to its April 15th end.
But last and certainly not least,
they still have their family blood line,
they make magic with just one call,
Asking ?How are you doing? ? Is everything fine??
We hope and pray,
that you?ll continue to glow,
in the love, joy and good health
that you both have known.
We are so very happy to share with you,
this wonderful and very special day,
Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad,
may your family?s love comfort you all the way. |
