An 80th Birthday poem to a favourite Aunt
I am interested in a poem for my Aunt Dorothy.
She will be 80 years young on June 26th and is generous to a fault. She is my very favorite Aunt.
Here is some more information.
Name of course - Aunt Dorothy

Born - Orange, Connecticut - Farm girl
Lives in Round Rock, Texas now. Spent several years in Oklahoma and still misses it today.
Collects - roosters and angels. Loves, crafts, cats, canasta, quilting
Charity work - Serving Center (Food Bank) and Caregiver. 2 children - Lin and Jack Jr.
A Positive Spin
Hello, Aunt Dorothy,
these words are just for you,
because we're so proud of who you are,
and we're very proud of what you do.
And I was taught so very long ago,
(that there's no such word as can't),
but I can't ever, ever remember,
having such a wonderful and favorite aunt.
Congratulations on becoming 80 years young,
actually, you are looking younger with every passing day,
and we've got some thoughts on our minds,
yes, we do have some heartfelt words to say.
You see, you're such a generous person,
and at times, your heart is too big for your chest,
and Aunt Dorothy, we wanted to say we're proud of you,
and to let you know, you're simply one of the best.
You've been like a guardian angel to me,
so I think I'll thank those heavens above,
because I know I'm lucky to have shared you,
I know that I've been blessed with your love.
You were born in Orange, Connecticut,
so some fruity jokes could spring to mind,
but that's where you landed on this spinning Earth,
and ever since, you've been a boon to womankind.
You had a lot of outdoor freedom growing up,
you were a farm girl in that early life,
you became a loving mother to Lin and Jack Jr.,
and of course, you were an absolutely devoted wife.
Now you live in Round Rock, Texas,
so called because of a pebble in the street,
but of all the rock like jewels in this world,
we know the one that's impossible to beat.
I know you miss your Oklahoma,
but you have your roosters and angels for company,
and I just wanted to say thank you for being you,
you've made many worlds a better place to be.
You love your Crafts, Cats and Canasta,
I wonder if you've ever quite been over C's?
But quilting is also one of your passions,
and you cover the world with kindness, as you please.
And your life has simply been extraordinary,
you're still proving what one life can be worth,
and we've all been graced by your presence,
you've put a positive spin on this planet Earth.
And we just wanted to say Happy 80th Birthday,
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you Aunt Dorothy, you're wonderful,
and here's to at least another 80 more. |
