5th Wedding Anniversary from Wife to Husband, a gift to him saying how their love and relationship has grown stronger

What is your name : Ann

Who do you want the poem written for: My husband I call him Bobby real name Bob

Why do you want the poem written: For your 5 year anniversary thanking him for a wonderful five years of joy and growth.

What are the key messages you would like to send: -memories from the time we have been together .Thanking him for being a wonderful husband and doing his part to make us grow together and stronger. Thanks for helping me grow as a person. I'm very happy and honored to be his wife. For being my partner.

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: I don't know the words to say and can never show him enough how much he means to me. I love him so much and love him more and more everyday. I feel that every day we continue to grow stronger as a couple. It all started when we met in Racy's, a coffee shop, when we were both going to college in Eau Claire WI. The funny thing is neither of us drink coffee and he was out with some girls to see if dating was a possibility. I was with my two roommates. One of my roomates noticed his hat he was putting on, it had long dreadlocks. She said, "cool hat!" He came back to us, saw me, stuck out his hand, and with a smiling unforgettable grin said, "Hi, my name is Bob, What's yours? I told him Ann. Then he said in an eager/excited voice, "We are going to Perkins, you should meet us there!" Then they left. It was already midnight and I had an 8:00 class. We headed back to our car and I said we should go home. My friends said, "no you are not, we are going to Perkins to see that guy again. He had the hots for you!" I didn't see it but they did, he was cute and full of energy though which I like! So we went to Perkins and was seated. Right when we sat down he took his plate of food, came to sit at out table, and started talking to us. The four of us sat there talking till 4:00 in the morning. We laughed, jokes, ate, and sang "I'm bringing home my baby bummblebee. It was so much fun! We were talking about movies and he asked if I have ever seen "The Never Ending Story." I told him it was one of my favorite movies as a kid and I have not seen it in a very long time. He asked what I was doing the next day. We arranged that he would pick me up when I was done with work the following night so we could watch the movie. That night he brought the movie over to our house. It ended up that he had bought the movie and gave it to me. After watching the movie we just gazed into each others eyes and talked. He was quite the gentlemen. He said he wanted to kiss me so bad but he wanted to wait till the next time we saw each other. That weekend I was out of town. I went home because it was my mom's birthday. I told her about Bob and the movie she bought me. I also told her that he was older than me, by 7 years. She said, "what is it with you girls and the older men?" My sister had just started dating a man that was also 7 years older than her. When I went back to school my roommates told me Bob called and I should call him back. I was so nervous! I had butterflies in my stomach. I called him and he picked me up to go eat at Perkins. When he picked me up he said, "hi, I've been waiting for you all weekend, can I kiss you?" I told him yes. He tells me now our first kiss was bad. And I seem to remember that too :) That was embarrassing! At Perkins we had a great talk and we both learned more about each other. That first week I think we saw each other every day. With in that week he knew he wanted to be with me forever and I knew that this is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. I felt so special, free, cared for, and loved. We meet close to Christmas so we spent most of winter break together. We went to see Titanic in the theatre. We watched Jerry McGuire on a big screen t.v. in the dorms, 1/2 making out and 1/2 watching the movie, and at the end of the movie he cried because it was such a happy ending. I loved it! So sensitive! Our song was "Crash" by Dave Matthews's Band, which was popular at the time. I gave him the name of Bobby Bear and I still refer to him as Bobby, my love, handsome, sexy, mine etc. After two months he got me a promise ring. He promised that no matter what happends he will always be my best friend and be there for me. I guess the rest is history. He proprosed on one knee in a resteraunt about 4 months later. After we got married I felt different, more connected to him than I had which I didn't think was even possible. It was weird but neat. I knew God had put us together. On our honeymoon we went to Ocean City Maryland and stayed at a bed and breakfast. It was so awesome! We walked the boardwalk and beach for 4 days. We jet skiied on the ocean and every night we had 1/2 1b. of fudge and a bag of popcorn. It was us time, together time.

Do you have any other comments or thoughts: -I thank God for also brining Crystal into my life. She is from Bob's previous marriage. I have known her since she was 4 and she is now 11. I refer to her as my daughter. When people look at me like, you look too young to have a daughter that is 11, then I tell them she is my step. I love her so much and it feels like she is my own. Thanks to the help of Bob our relationship continues to grow for the better over the years. We have both bungie jumped and done the ejection seat together, what a rush!!!We collect rootbeer bottles from all over. Right now we have about 40 different types of bottles. We love road trips. It is usually to go see family but we have been to both coasts since we have known each other. The east coast we have been to more times than I can remember or count. Since I am more flexible with my job I change my sleep pattern so I can drive at night while my family is sleeping. That way we can get there faster. After we got married we moved to Madison WI. We don't have much for maily around us so we have had each other and a few close friends we have made. We love it here and it would take us a lot to relocate! In our spare time we love to just talk about everything and anything, watch movies, and do things the other person enjoys.
-tough times- 1. Bob's job situation seems to change every few years due to matters out of his control. Looking for jobs is very stressful. We deal with finding jobs differently becuase we are two totally different people. This bring much conflict, although we are both understanding each other more and more which helps but it is still a struggle we hate to go through. 2. Because we moved in together before we got married horrible rumors were started by friend and family during a time taht we were working through us stuff. This hurt a lot and was very difficult. During this time the song by Shania Twain called "Your The One" really hit home and still does. 3. I have been teaching for 5 years now. Being a beginning teacher is hard. I have to do alot of work at home in the evenings. I have to take care of my husband, daughter, and my career. I am still learning how to balance everyone. This puts straign on our relationship during certain times of the year. 4. My communication skills were not very good. I didn't know how to express myself very well at all. This puts a big strain on our relationship at times when we are tying to figure things out, or are in a big discussion. These are only a few but as we look back we are stronger now becuase we got through thoes tuff times. And I hate to say it but I am glad we had them to prove to us we are strong enough in each other. He spoils me, for our 4th anniversary he spoiled me! He had me go to a store with a friend to pick out a fancy dress but I didn't know it was for my benefit. I was told my friend needed a fancy dress and I should try some on too. After we picked out our favorites she put them on layaway. He went back to get them and the dress showed up on my bed the night of our anniversary and a note saying I need to be ready by 5 for a date. He took me to a romantic dinner and had a great time!We are two totally different people. Some may say we are the opposites which is why many people doubted our relationship. He is a very strong, outgoing person and I am a very shy, friendly person. This has made us work so well as a team, partners. We have different interests but as the years have gone by our intersts have begun to blend together.I feel more self-confident since I have been with him. He has helped me be more of an advocate for myself. My communication skills have also improved. I am learning to communicate my feelings and what I am thinking much better. It has helped us become stronger. He always tells me how beautiful I am and I tell him how handsom he is.He is my partner, lover, boyfriend, husband, and best friend We always tell each other "I love you, I need you, I want you!"We are still asked if we are newy weds and are called newly weds by our friends sometimes. We still feel like we are.

Never Ending Story

Our story started out with a "cool hat",
and perked up in Perkins with a plateful of food,
we laughed, we joked, we ate, we sang,
and "my baby bumblebee" sums up the mood.

And so began our Never Ending Story,
although for our first kiss you made me wait,
in retrospect, the act of a fine gentlemen,
(I'd expect nothing less from my one and only soul mate).

But in the end, our first kiss was less than memorable,
but nevertheless, in our first week, we found heaven,
and we saw each other for the same number of days,
the same number as the years that separated us, that was seven.

We saw Titanic and watched Jerry McGuire,
although if I remember, we were sort of making out,
and at the end of that movie you cried,
I guess we were both learning what love was all about.

And no, we never went "Crash",
because 2 months later, I wore your ring,
you promised that no matter what you'd be there,
I promised my Bobby, my love, my everything.

And Bobby, you've kept that solemn promise,
although at times, it's been no rose filled dream,
but through it all, we've stuck together,
we've proved to the world we truly are a team.

And I just wanted to say "I love you",
but in truth, I didn't know where to start,
so I thought I'd share a few feelings,
and give you some words, straight from the heart.

I know I can never show you my inside,
and I struggle to tell you what you mean to me,
but Bobby, I think I'm about to change all that,
because you've made my world a great place to be.

I would like to begin by saying "you're wonderful",
I guess I've never really said how wonderful you are,
but if my love for you were a distance,
then it would be further than the furthest star.

I also wanted to say a simple "thank you",
thank you for everything you've ever done,
your love has been my light, my inspiration,
in every way, you've been like my morning sun.

We've shared a wonderful five years together,
full of joy, growth, happiness and love,
and I know I've been blessed to have met you,
I know that I've been blessed by the heavens above.

We've shared so many wonderful memories,
in fact, there's too many to individually list,
just know that everyone is so very precious,
there's not one that I would've missed.

You have been a simply wonderful husband,
and you've played quite a magnificent hand,
you've helped us grow together and stronger,
and you've always given me an ear that'll understand.

You've also helped me grow as a person,
so much so, I'm now approaching full bloom,
you've carefully tended and nurtured me,
and you've given space when I've needed the room.

I just wanted to thank you for being my partner,
I'm very happy and honored to be your wife,
and I know that five years is just the beginning,
because undoubtedly, we'll be married for life.

And I know we'll share many more road trips together,
there'll be you, me and Crystal, going coast to coast,
and the fact that I'm part of this great family,
well, that's something I'll always proudly boast.

Officially, I would like to thank you for Crystal,
truly, she's a diamond and I love her so,
and I just wanted to say I love you too,
but there's one other thing that you should know:

Ours is actually the Never Ending Story,
because I believe that God has bought us together,
and our eternal journey is only just starting out,
as it is one that's destined to last forever and ever.

And I just wanted to say Happy 5th Anniversary,
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you, Bobby, you're truly wonderful,
and here's to our Never Ending Story, for evermore.
