A Gift of Poetry. The perfect gift for any occasion

A Gift of Poetry A Gift of Poetry. The unique gift for every occasion. A gift that says it all.

A typical day poem that we can all relate too!

I live in Wollongong and work in Sydney which
is about 65 kilometres away, so I spend two to
three hours in the car everyday. Normally,
this isn't a bind and I find generally it is great
thinking time, but some days I hate it !

I think the traffic must have been
particularly bad the day I wrote this !

Everyday

I'm always fast asleep when,
The alarm goes at just past five,
I pull the covers over,
I'm half awake, I'm half alive.

I lie there for ten minutes,
Wish it could be more,
Then I put my shoes on,
And head out of the door.

Walk down to the beach,
I'm trying to stay trim,
And walking does help me,
How come I'm not slim ?

Get home and have a coffee,
A slice will have to do,
I don't talk to the missus,
And she don't talk too.

I hop in the shower,
I have a quick scrub,
I wish I had longer,
To lounge in the tub.

Go to the sock drawer,
God what a pick,
Must match the suit,
To look nice & schmick.

My shoes need a polish,
They're looking a bit rough,
But who's going to notice ?
And what's a little scuff ?

Wave the wife hello,
And kiss the kids goodbye,
Dash out the door,
Now I've just got to fly.

Jump into the car,
Try to think of a rhyme,
I'll listen to the radio,
It'll pass some time.

Drive the hour or so,
So many bloody cars,
Just poor sods like me,
Is there Life on Mars ?
