A Gift of Poetry A Gift of Poetry. The unique gift for every occasion. A gift that says it all.

A friend who says she's a soul sister as they were destined to meet, wants to read this poem at the pre Wedding Dinner

What is your name : amy glusman

Who do you want the poem written for: best friend....tara haft (and her ...soon to be
husband jonathan slogoff!)

Why do you want the poem written: their wedding is oct. 2, in ny, in the hamptons, wedding is at east hampton pointe, right on the water..i am in the wedding as is my husband (our boys became almost as close as us!)...i am actually going up early before the wedding...(wednesday) to be there for her before her day! (she lives in ny and i live in florida...)her and i have the most unique friendship...hard to describe in words, we are soul sisters, meant to be friends. it is so obvious. i am going to read something at the friday night dinner and i wanted it to be special, not just the typical speech...i want her to know (although i know she does) how i cherish "us" and how happy i am that she and jonathan found eachother..they are the perfect "8". that may sound weird but i believe "8" is better than ten. "8" is infinity, forever...and that is what i see in the two of them.

What are the key messages you would like to send: tara and i met in 1993 in univ. of wisconsin-madison..in the "towers" and became friends too easily...it was so effotless..so natural...her family always spent the x-mas breaks in florida...so it was our "extra" time besides school to hang out, be bad, go the beach, listen to our cheesy music in my celica (she also had a red celica as her first car! same one!) we would sing out loud to music (ace of base) that only her and i liked...it was perfect...b/c we liked it! our 4 yrs in madison were intertwined, we took all the same classes, she dealt with my morning meaness and i let her cheat off me! it was a match made in heaven...after college...it was as if we grew up, grew together, and reinvented our friendship....if it was possible, we got more connected...out lives were on the same page spiritually, we understand each other...there is not bullshit...i call her when i have great news and when i am sooooo depresssed and she just "gets me"...to sum it up....we get eachother...i love to share my life w/ her b/c i feel her happiness..i feel her genuine interest...it is real. also...she gets me! i am so happy for this new chapter of her and jonathan's life to begin...she is so "her" w/ him...so tara. he is so wonderful to her, he loves her and she loves him. they have it all. the fact that the four of us (my husband jeff, myself, her and jonathan) could spend endless time together and it always be so "normal" is a gift in itself. when we are on one vacation together we are always planning for the next...we try to not go long btwn visits! sometimes tara and i just talk about jeff and jonathan being friends...! it makes us sooooo happy! the four of us are going to grow old together and it is something that we don't even need to say b/c it is understood...definitely looking forward to the many family vacations! i am preg. now..so she better get on that soon! and obviously NANNIES will join...tara and i are always good for our mid-day white wine..it's part of our friendship! we love to shop in skinny days ONLY, we love to eat no matter what,,,,then we feel so sick and complain about how much we ate...then we totally get over it and have another cocktail! we love to make fun of ourselves...it always makes us laugh! we have venting sessions...and we always seem to feel better after! we share secrets, we trust. it is amazing. i trust her completely.

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: i was a part of one of the most important moments of her life...when she got engaged. i am in the jewelry biz...so i was the one that jonathan called when he was ready to buy the diamond! that was the HARDEST secret ever to keep. i could barely talk to her btwn. our 1st convo until he proposed. it was prefect though. she knew exactly what she wanted for her ring. (of course) and believe me i was working harder than EVER to make sure it was perfect..she was not an easy one...(but neither am i...prob. why we get along so well) we know what we want! so...she came to florida for a girls weekend and it turned into an engagement weekend..jonathan suprised her, flew down from ny, jeff picked him up at the airport and the coordinating began..we went the delano in so. bch, one of her fav. place and by fate she was going to look for a table, we were outside, she sat down to hold the table while danielle and i got drinks and jonathan walked over to her. he brought her out to a lounge chair in the sand and asked her to spend forever w/ him...it was a fairy tale..altough tara and i had been friends forver...this was definitely the beginning of the four of us! what a wonderful moment in time. one i will never forget.

Do you have any other comments or thoughts: i want them both to know that i love them...and i am so beyond happy to be here. after my five LONG yrs of marriage, my advice to them is to never take one another for granted..try to always look at eachother the way you did the first time you knew you were in love, bottle that feeling and keep it close. it won't go away. be true and honest..(most of the time!) haha..
love and laugh and cry together and be friends, have fun...life is so precious and the fact that you have found each other is a gift. cherish this gift..and remember this whole wedding weekend as it is the beginning for you two! wish you everything. love you so.

What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): i want happy...funny....and touching...i want her and jonathen to feel the poem...

The Perfect 8

I wanted to say something magical,
you know, not just a normal speech,
so I?ll try to tell you what?s in my head,
and yes, I promise not to preach.

You see, Tara is my very best friend,
we?re like soul sisters, sort of meant to be,
and I just wanted to say ?you?re special?,
Tara, you mean the very world to me.

We have this very unique friendship,
and to describe it, words simple fail,
but compared to other friendships in my life,
well, next to Tara?s, they definitely pale.

I really do cherish ?us?,
together, we seem to make the other whole,
and Tara I just wanted you to know,
you have a special place in my heart, and my soul.

Tara and I met in ?93 in the ?towers?,
it was just so natural that we became friends,
and her family always spent Christmas in Florida,
so we shared many summer days (seemingly with no ends).

We?d be bad, go to the beach,
we?d listen to cheesy music in my car,
it was a Red Celica (the same as Tara?s),
but sadly, our singing would never get us far.

We?d sing out loud to Ace of Base,
it was our music, just Tara?s and mine,
we shared four glorious years at Madison,
and it seemed like our lives were intertwined.

We took all the same classes,
she dealt with my mornings and I let her cheat,
it was a match made in heaven,
but then we were tossed out onto ?grown up? street.

But as we grew up we grew together,
it was like our friendship could never age,
we understand each other, we ?get? each other,
and spiritually, we?re both very much on the same page.

I call her up when I have great news,
and yes, there are phone calls when I?m depressed,
but I love to share my life with Tara,
because Tara, you really are one of the very best.

I?m so happy that you and Jonathan found each other,
you?re obviously one another?s soul mate,
and what I see in the both of you,
well, it can only be described as The Perfect 8.

You see, 8 is such a perfect symbol,
it represents infinity (and you?ll go far beyond),
because you have a love that?ll last forever,
it?s so obvious that you share this special bond.

And I?m so happy about your new chapter,
I can?t wait for the Slogoff stories to unfold,
because I know you?ll share a lifetime of happiness,
there?s many stories out there, so far unwritten and untold.

Tara is so ?Tara? with Jonathan,
you can see that he loves her with all his heart,
and I just wanted to wish them a lifetime of happiness,
but in truth, I just didn?t know where to start.

The fact that the four of us get on so well,
well, that?s such a blessing, hardly in disguise,
and you can see that Tara and Jonathan are perfect,
you can see it in the sparkle in their eyes.

And maybe that sparkle holds something else,
because we?ve already started, our sparkle's here inside,
I know our children will be very much loved,
and they will be an enormous sense of pride.

Of course, Tara and I will still shop on SKINNY days,
and I?m sure we?ll continue with the odd vent,
but I just wanted to say thank you to both of you,
Tara, Jonathan, you?ve both been heaven sent.

And maybe we?ll have 2 children each,
and then the Perfect 8 will be 4 + 4,
but whatever happens, I wish you happiness,
and of course, everlasting love for evermore.
