A gift to say thank you to Parents who have given their children the experience of travelling the world.
We have been asked not to publish the details of this request.
Coast to Coast
In our journeys we've traveled far,
ship to shore and coast to coast,
we know all our nation's treasures,
and of that we proudly boast.
We've sampled life on both coasts,
we've always liked moving around,
and now our family is spread wide and far,
and has finally settled down.
We know that we've been lucky,
and seen things many never see,
of course, we have a few regrets,
but some things aren't meant to be.
We've moved more times than we can remember,
but our pets always came along,
apart from that poor baby duck,
Dad always said corn starch was wrong !
Virginia Beach, our favorite place,
just in the woods, on the bay,
many a happy time spent there,
many a wonderful summers day.
We remember moving across country once,
and playing in the snow,
we wonder where heartfelt memories live,
and why they never go?
We've seen all of this magical country,
from the Redwood forests to the oceans blue,
and it never, ever would have happened,
it's all simply been down to you.
So we'd just like to say thank you,
that's what these words are for,
just know that we love you now,
and that we'll love you for evermore.
We remember driving to the fog horn,
and waiting in anticipation,
for the sound that keeps the ships off the rocks,
guiding them safely to their destination.
You have been like that fog horn,
or like two guiding lights,
you've made sunshine out of rain clouds,
you've made mornings out of the darkest nights.
And while Dad steered the ship,
Mom's strength guided the way,
you also have kept us off the rocks,
what more is there left to say?
Of all the nation's treasures we've seen,
we know your love matters the most,
you've been the best parents in the whole wide world,
Pole to Pole, ship to shore, coast to coast. |
