A poem to a wonderful husband (and now father) following his son's birth after ten years of marriage
What is your name : Joanne Hunt
Who do you want the poem written for: Doug Hunt
Why do you want the poem written: I would like to present the poem to him for being such a wonderful husband to me and father to our son Cameron Davis who was born on November 9, 2004
.
What are the key messages you would like to send: Cameron was born on on our 10th year of marriage and although the past year and a half was rough we made it through and are stronger as a couple because of it. During labor I was so in tune with Doug that the experience was beyond intimate. We have a beautiful son and I want Doug to know how proud I am to be in this life with him and how thankful I am for his gift of Cameron.
Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: Doug plays the drums, loves music, and is a great dancer. He loves to eat late night snacks and enjoys sports -- he's a Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He used to listen for Cameron's heartbeat at home with a stethoscope and talk to him in utero in the evenings. He always enjoyed feeling Cameron's movements in mommy's belly.
Do you have any other comments or thoughts: Since Cameron's birth Doug has been a source of strength and inspiration - always bringing me back to my roots of trusting in God and in us as a parental unit. He's been an active dad - changing Cameron and helping mom around the house. Finally, after week one he's had some experiences to show he's not perfect.....Cameron has peed on him and the wall, he's woken up at night thinking he was rocking Cameron.....because he always has him.
What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): I would like the poem to be emotional and romantic
Please choose which package you would prefer:Unique
Do you have any last comments or thoughts: I would like the poem to be written from both myself and Cameron.
Making Music
The past year and half was rough,
but gladly, we made it through,
and we just wanted to share a few thoughts,
we wanted to tell you of our love for you.
You see, you're such a wonderful husband,
in truth, the best husband a girl's ever had,
and you're a great father to Cameron Davis,
and I know he's already very proud of his Dad.
During labor I was so in tune with you,
it was beyond intimate, it was off the scale,
and when I try to describe my love for you,
well, mere words always seem to fail.
So maybe we should create a song together,
I won't write it (as I'm all fingers and thumbs),
but I know that we make beautiful music,
we already have the harmony (and you could play the drums).
Actually, I think Cameron is our music,
and I never seen or heard such a beautiful song,
I wanted to thank you for putting the notes together,
I knew you were a great musician, all along.
Truly, I'd like to thank you for your gift of Cameron,
honestly, he is our dreams personified,
and I know he couldn't have picked finer father,
I know he couldn't - even if he'd tried.
I also wanted to thank you for being you,
I'm very proud to be called your wife,
in truth, I feel lucky that I ever met you,
I feel privileged that I'm sharing your life.
Look, I know you're a Pittsburgh Steelers fan,
you eat late night snacks and you enjoy sports,
and you listened to Cameron's heartbeat at home,
you talked to him (sharing your many thoughts).
You always enjoyed feeling Cameron's movement,
and I must admit, that always gave me a kick,
but since his birth, you've been my inspiration,
and when I've needed you, you've come real quick.
Actually, you've been my rock, my source of strength,
always bringing me back to trusting in God up above,
you're always bringing me back to my roots,
and you've put the family in our family's love.
You've been such a helpful and active Dad,
changing, helping and rocking him to sleep,
and together, we've created some wonderful memories,
all of which I'll treasure and I'll always keep.
I know Cameron's peed on you (and the wall),
and I know that you've woken up in the middle of the night,
but we both just wanted to say thank you,
we'd like to thank you sharing your love, your light.
And we also wanted to say "Congratulations Dad",
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you, Dad, Doug, you're truly wonderful,
and here's to us making music, for evermore. |
