What are the key messages you would like to send: I want her to know I consider myself lucky to have married such a smart, beautiful woman (pale irish skin and beautiful green eyes). She does everything at home, laundry, keeps the house immaculate and caters to me, I want her to know I appreciate all of the things she does for me. Our adversities have made our relationship stronger.

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: Memorable moments: I was in the Marine Corps and she was going through basic training for the army (she got out after a year). I used to drive down on weekends to South Carolina to see her on the weekends and sit with her and talk. When she graduated, I picked went to her graduation and we left and went to Myrtle Beach and blew every bit of money she made and all the money I had just having a great time. I took her back to Illinois and I almost did not have money to make it back to the base in North Carolina!!
Funny: When she got her bus ticket when she was still in high school to come get married to me, she could not do so without her parents releasing custody. She lived with her mom and her mom refused. Her dad went to the courthouse with her and released custody giving her the permission to get married to me. Her mom found out and called me from Illinois pleading me not to marry her and I refused. We got married and when she got back to Illinois her mother kicked her out of the house and instead of saving money for a place, etc, I had to find a place to live with the little money I had.

Do you have any other comments or thoughts : We were high school sweethearts and I left for the Marine Corps June 1992. She is very smart and could have went to college and done anything in the world, made lots of money, but instead she married me. We were married when she was 17 and I was 19 on November 15, 1992 and nobody thought that we would make it and we did go through the tough times. We rented a house and slept on a poncho and covered up with a poncho liner. Ate MREs for lunch when we went to town because we could not afford to eat anywhere because I was only a private first class. We have traveled the world at my various duty stations spending three years in London, England, three years in Las Vegas. Her and my daughter Brianna are now back home while I am in Iraq. We have come a long ways and now have a wonderful home, wonderful daughter and I really have everything in life I have always wanted. I continue to fall more and more in love with her every year. We are a team her and I, we have a ton of inside jokes that nobody would ever get, however we would laugh our butts off. This year is particularly tough due to the fact that I am in Iraq and she has to take care of everything back home on her own including my 11 year old daughter Brianna and working every day. It frustrates her that my dedication to the Marine Corps sometimes disrupts our life but she continues to be supportive of me regardless. Although the next few years I will deploy a couple more times, I retire in 6 1/2 years and we want a house on a lot of land enjoying our time together. I can do nothing that would ever express how much I love her.

My Paradise

I want you to know I consider myself lucky,
although by now, this should come as no surprise,
but I married such a smart, beautiful woman,
with your pale Irish skin and such beautiful green eyes.

You do everything at home, including the laundry,
you keep the house immaculate and cater to my every need,
and I wanted you to know I appreciate what you do,
it?s your love and support that has helped me to succeed.

Our adversities have only made our relationship stronger,
and where are the doubters who said we?d never last?
And I?m proud we ate MREs and slept on a poncho,
no one can ever take that from us, that?s our past!

And I?ll never forget your graduation,
although here?s a lesson we could probably teach,
because we blew every bit of money we had,
but we had such a great time, there on Myrtle Beach.

And then your Mom refused to let us marry,
if you recall, you were still in high school at the time,
but thankfully, your Dad came to the rescue,
and he?s the one who?s put the reason in this rhyme.

Because 12 years later (where did that time go?),
well, I don?t know, but I do love you more than ever,
and I?m so looking forward to retirement in 6 and a half years,
just think, us three, lots of land, living out our dream, together.

We?ve come a long way from being high school sweethearts,
you could have been anything, you were and are so smart,
but instead, you chose to marry a private first class,
talk about living and being led by the heart.

But we?ve traveled to London and to Vegas,
and now truly, I?m losing the desire to roam,
because even though I have everything I?ve always dreamed of,
I can?t help but think of you and Brianna, there at home.

When I compare that thought to the Iraqi sands,
well, this is no inside joke when I say I miss you so,
because we?re a team, you and I, meant to be together,
but there?s a few other things you should know.

Because tonight, step outside and look upwards,
and if you can see it, find the furthest star,
as that?s the measure of my love for you,
that distance is just how truly wonderful you really are.

I just wanted to say Happy 12th Anniversary,
I never imagined living and having a life this nice,
and I just wanted to thank you for being you,
I will always be thankful to and for you, my Paradise

"She to me is Paradise, (came from a Tesla song). You did a spectacular job?I could have never done this, no way!!!!

Okay, now the paper etc. I have a special request that I think would really have an impact. What are my chances that instead of paper with back round pictures, instead that I could get the picture I sent you and the one attached printed to the left of the poem? One is our prom picture, the other is last year?s anniversary?kind of a before and after picture. I know it is not normally something you do, but I thought I would ask. If it is possible to have those pictures on there, any parchment paper will do as long as it does not affect the color of the pictures.
I hope none of this insults any of your hard work. I could have never expressed my thoughts the way you have. You truly have a gift, I am glad that like me, you do something that you enjoy. If you need further guidance on paper etc, please let me know. Our anniversary is on the 15th and I would like to get it to North Carolina in her hands by then, do you think that is going to be feasible? If the pictures are a possibility then the prom picture would go above the other. If not, print the poem on the satin picture. (might even look alright with the pictures?).

Allen, you can publish all information however you like. No name changes or situation changes needed. Glad to help."
