2nd Anniversary Gift for Husband - they met late in life having both been widowed, through a dating agency

What is your name: Carolyn Kalinich

Who do you want the poem written for: My husband Joe

Why do you want the poem written: I want to wish my husband Happy Anniversary. We will celebrate our 2nd anniversary on July 26th. When our first anniversary was coming up I very much wanted to find something special for him. I searched in so many stores, but simply ran out of time and ideas. I just could not come up with anything special and wound up giving him a box of chocolates and a beautiful card only. Since then, I began thinking about what I wanted to do for our 2nd anniversary several months ago. I came up with the idea of writing down things that I love about my husband and presenting that to him. When I came across your website, I realized that this is very much in line with what I already decided to do.

What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): Happy and romantic

Please choose which package you would prefer : Ribbon

Would you like a copy of the handwritten drafts : No

What are the key messages you would like to send: My husband and I met late in life and have only been together for a little over 3 years. I was 49 years old and had become widowed very suddenly 3 years prior; he was 51 and had also become widowed 8 years prior and following the death of his first wife, remarried. That marriage last 1 year and resulted in a very nasty divorce and emotional trauma. We met through a dating service and to this day I am still in amazement at the timing and fate of our coming together. The key message I want to send to my husband is the depth of feeling I have for him. I will never forget our first date when he simply put his hand on my back as we were walking to a restaurant and the electricity that ran through my body. I was deeply in love with him after only a few dates, and he with me as well. He made clear his commitment to me after only a few weeks of dating, and we began talking about a future together shortly thereafter. Although my first husband was a very good man and we had many good times together and I would never speak ill of him, especially to my children, I want my Joe to know that I did not feel this way in my first marriage. Even after almost 3 years, I am absolutely crazy about him. My husband fishes in tournaments during the summer which means he is away for several long weekends. I still get a painful feeling in my heart when I know he will be going away, but have learned to try and not show it too much. However, I have to fight back tears when he leaves, and when I am waiting for him to call me (which he does each night when he is away) I am like a teenager waiting for her boyfriend to call her. I run for the phone when it rings and have to laugh at myself for acting like this.

I want to incorporate into this poem the things I love about him: Although it is something that sometimes takes him away from me, I love his passion and enthusiasm for fishing. He has patiently taught me to love it as well and has made every effort to include me in this part of his life as much as possible. I love his passion for sports and his athleticism. I love his enthusiasm for life in general and how he will come up with something fun to do on the spur of the moment. This is one of the major things that makes us so compatible. I love how without hesitation and unconditionally, he embraced my children (both teenagers) into his life. He has never made them feel as though he is trying to replace their father, but at the same time let's them know he is there for them. I love all the little things he does for me to help around the house, and all those little thoughtful things I appreciate so much. I love his intelligence and his sense of humor. I could go on and on, but the major point I want to stress is that I love this man with every fiber of my being for so many, many reasons and putting those feelings into words is my eternal gift to him.

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: Our Wedding Day - I don't ever remember feeling as happy as I did that day. We were married in our home with close family and friends and our ceremony was simple and beautiful. I will never forget the way he looked at me as we each said our vows. There was no doubt in my mind at the depth of his love for me.

Our honeymoon was also very memorable and happy. Although it was only 5 days, we have an abundance of wonderful memories from the glorious weather we had all 5 days, to the whale watching, to riding the CAT Ferry, and to eating lots of wonderful seafood at many great restaurants. Every time I think about that time together I get a big grin on my face and feel wonderful inside.
Do you have any other comments or thoughts : None that I can think of right now

No Chocolates

For our first anniversary, I searched so many stores,
in truth, I searched long and hard, high and low,
but I ended up giving you chocolates and a card,
and now there are some things you need to know.

Because several months ago, I started thinking,
and I started to compile what is quite a list,
because I wanted you to know why I love you,
and I don't think there's one thing that I've missed.

Now, we've only been together for a little over 3 years,
you could say we met relatively late on in life,
but Joe, I just wanted to say that I'm proud of you,
I'm very proud and honored to be called your wife.

I know that we've both owned our fair share of tragedy,
and I also know it's never easy the second time around,
but today I am still amazed at the timing and the fate,
and I can't believe the pure and true happiness that we've found.

I also can't believe the depth of feeling I have for you,
truly, it would reach to the bottom of the deepest sea,
and I'll never forget our first date with your hand on my back,
what ran through me I can only describe as electricity.

I was deeply in love with you after only a few dates,
and without being presumptuous, you were in love as well,
you made your commitment very clearly, very early on,
you obviously knew that we had a tale to tell.

Although my first husband was a very good man,
and truly, we had many good times together,
however, I know I've never felt this way before,
because what we share will last forever and ever.
Even after three years, I'm absolutely crazy about you,
but I really miss you on those fishing weekends,
I still get a pain in my heart when I know you're going away,
but passionately, when you get home, you always make amends.

So, I have learned to try and not show it too much,
however, when you leave, I have to fight back the tears,
and I sit there waiting for you to call (which you always do),
let me tell you, some of those weekends last for years.

I'm like a teenager waiting for her boyfriend to call,
and although I laugh at myself, I run when the phone rings,
because I know you will be on the other end of the line,
and I know just what happiness your voice brings.

In truth, I love your passion and enthusiasm for fishing,
even though it means we have to spend time apart,
but you've also patiently taught me to love it as well,
so I guess, in this instance, I will have to share your heart.

I love your passion for sports and your athleticism,
I love your enthusiasm for life in general, your spirit,
you will come up with something fun to do at the drop of a hat,
it seems that your motto is: "This is life, let's be in it".

I love how, without hesitation and conditions,
you embraced my children, tightly to your chest,
you never made them feel you were the "replacement",
and in the difficult times, you just did your very best.

But you also let them know you were there for them,
and it's all those little things I appreciate so much,
I love your intelligence and your sense of humor,
and just for the record, my! How I love your tender touch.

I could go on but the major point I want to stress is this:
I love you with every fiber of my being, my very soul,
for Joe, with you in my life I feel complete,
yes, you are the one that makes me completely whole.

And I'll never forget our beautiful, so perfect wedding,
I don't remember ever feeling as happy as I did on that day,
I will never forget the way you looked at me as you spoke,
your eyes said everything that you needed to say.

I think of our honeymoon and I always grin,
in truth, a great big smile breaks across my face,
5 days, you, glorious weather, whale watching, seafood,
you see, you've made my world such a wonderful place.

And I'm sorry, but there's no chocolates this year,
instead, just my simple but undying words of love,
because I know that I've been blessed to have shared you,
I know that I've been blessed by the heavens above

Comments:

"For the key verse I would like to say:

To my dearest Joe, my husband, my lover, the love of my life,

Happy 2nd Anniversary.

The personal message I would like to say:

Joe, These words are my gift to you. They express my innermost feelings to you now and forever, and they come from my heart and soul. I hope you will treasure them and keep them in your heart.

My deepest love, Carolyn.

I believe that is it. By the way you have my permission to use my poem on your website. I would be proud. I love it! Looks like a wrap to me. Thanks again, Carolyn Kalinich"
