Poem to Husband for forthcoming Wedding, third time they have got together since 1982, both divorced now, and will live apart until children graduate

What is your nam : Lyn

Who do you want the poem written for: Mike

Why do you want the poem written : Our wedding, June 9, 05.

What are the key messages you would like to send : Mike and I met on June 12, 1982. I was 15 and he was 18. I lived in Florida and was visiting my Grandmother for the summer. We fell in love and spent a wonderful summer together. He came to visit me that Christmas and things didn't work out because we lived far apart. Then in 1984 I went to PA for a funeral and we saw each other in a pizza parlor, went out and our romance was one again rekindled. I moved to PA then after 6 months we moved to Florida together. We lived together for about 6 months but things did not work because we worked different shifts and we unable to spend time together. Then I had a very bad experience with a co worker and just left. I broke his heart. We both went on to marry other people and have children and divorce. Then 4/03, I called him out of the blue (I knew he was living in Florida-He is in Cocoa beach and I am in Jacksonville) and after months of talking on 8/09 I went to see him. I was planning on a nice dinner and to see an old friend. I opened the door to my room when he knocked and we both fell instantly in love. It was exactly 6:00 pm. We had a wonderful time together but didn't tell each other how we felt. I left that Sunday not knowing where we would go from there. He came to see me 2 weeks later and we have been together ever since. We commute every weekend. He is truly my soulmate, God has given us one last chance to make things work. We are both happier than we have ever been. I always say that we have come full circle. That all the lessons I have learned were so my life would prepare me for him. We will not be able to live together after we are married. We have children his girl age 14. Me son age 16 and Daughter age 14. My kids have told me they won't move and will move in with my ex if I move. My job is easy to relocate but he works on the space shuttle. So the plan is to live separately until my son graduates 07 then I'll move and my daughter will have to make a decision on where she will live. Unconventional we know but we will make things work. In our 3rd time together we haven't had a fight. We are so much alike it's scarey sometimes. Yet our differences compliment each other. Soulmates!!

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: The night we met again, 8/9/03. I was very overwhelmed by my emotions. He put an REO Speedwagon CD(Good Trouble) in and played a couple songs that we listened together in 1982 that first summer. I was takn back in time - literally!! It was like I was 15 again. One very significant song on the album was BeBop. Then our song is "Baby Let me Down" by Peter Criss. Anyway I got very drunk...and he took care of me and my hangover the next day....The happiest day was the night he proposed to me. We went to Gatlinburg, TN and rented a cabin the week after Christmas 04. On Dec. 28 th we asked me to be his wife with Bebop playing in the background, we were in the hot tub with a fire buring in the cabin. It was perfect!!!

Do you have any other comments or thoughts : Not sure...I have told you soooooo much!!! If you need anything else please contact me.

What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.) : Romantic with a little humor.

Three Times Lucky

We first met on June 12, 1982,
I was 15 and you were much older (eighteen),
I was visiting my Grandmother for the summer,
and you were finest summer I'd ever seen.

So quite naturally, we fell in love,
and we spent a wonderful time together,
and although there's been some ups and downs,
that's the start of a story that'll last forever and ever.

You came to visit me that Christmas,
but sadly, things just didn't work out,
the distance between us became our tyranny,
but we soon found what true love was all about.

Because two years later, our eyes met once again,
and once more, the flames of our passion reignited,
I moved to PA and then we both moved to Florida,
but working left us less than excited.

Different shifts meant we were like ships in the night,
then I had a bad experience with a co-worker and just left,
I'm sorry, because I know now that I broke your heart,
but I too was all washed up, I too felt so bereft.

As a consequence we both went our separate ways,
but we were being looked after by the heavens above,
because in 2003, I called you out of the blue,
and a few months later, I opened the door to our rekindled love.

I was planning a nice dinner with an old friend,
I'll never forget the time, it was evening, exactly six o'clock,
we had a wonderful time together, but didn't share our feelings,
so what happened next came as quite a shock.

But I still left that Sunday not knowing our future,
although two weeks later, I heard a knocking at my door,
and that was the start of our lifetime of happiness,
because when I was looking for love, there you were, once more.

December 28th, Bebop, hot tub, fire burning, a cabin,
I'll never forget the perfect night that you proposed,
and now I'm happier than I ever thought possible,
I'm happier than I ever dreamt, ever even supposed.

God has given us one last chance to make things work,
as you are my soul-mate, I love you with all my heart and soul,
and with you in my life, I do feel complete,
yes Mike, you are the one that makes me completely whole.

We are both happier than we have ever been,
we have come full circle and have gone back to the start,
but in the meantime, we've learned so many lessons,
and this time, I will take precious care of your heart.

And although we wont be living together initially,
(I guess life is never quite a rose filled dream),
we will make things work (third time lucky),
because God knows, we were always a team.

We are so much alike it's scary sometimes,
yet our differences make us who we are,
and if my love for you were a distance,
then it would be further than the furthest star.

And maybe you'll build us a rocket-ship one day,
so that together, we can fly high over this planet Earth,
but in the meantime, I appreciate your grounding,
yes, I know my husband's true and honest worth.

It seems like fate and destiny have combined,
and such mighty forces just can't be denied,
and I know I couldn't have chosen a finer husband,
I know I couldn't - even if I'd tried.

So Mike, I promise to you my undying and eternal love,
and I solemnly promise, to you I will be surely true,
because I know that I'm proud to be your wife,
and I know that we're three times lucky, that's me and you.
