A gift of poetry for a loving husband on his special day
My husband's birthday is coming up in a few weeks (9/5 to be exact) and I desperately need the right words to tell him how much I care for him. We have been married 7 years and will both be age 54 on our next
birthdays - mine is only a few months after his. This is a second
marriage for both of us. I have one child by a former marriage; he has
no children. We care very much for each other but sometimes, especially
me, forget to let the other know that. He has a special way about him
that makes me ALWAYS feel very loved and cared for. He is kind and
gentle; isn't afraid to get weepy over a sad movie or a sweet moment,
and he is strong and commited to his beliefs. He is very easy to get
along with. He is witty and makes me laugh a lot. We enjoy traveling
together - took a Caribbean cruise, our third together, this past
February and are going to Colorado later this year. We always have fun
on these trips. We actually get a long very well, but sometimes you can
just feel that there is a need for one of us to reach out and hold the
other one but we don't always follow through - for what reason, I don't
know. I'm trying harder to reach out because I know he feels a need to
feel loved and I wish I could make him feel as loved as he makes me
feel. We are both recently retired from long-time careers and have the rest of our lives only to keep each other happy. yes, we have much to be thankful for.
Can't think of more to tell you but really would appreciate seeing what
you can put together for me to wish him the best birthday ever-and
hoping he will want to spend the rest of his birthdays with me.
Second Time Around
For all and maybe no reasons,
real love missed us the first time around,
but since we've been together,
my feet haven't touched the ground.
Sometimes I forget to reach out
and hug you close to me.
Don't know why I contain my love,
because I want it to be free.
You have so many special ways,
I'm always loved and cared for.
You are so kind and gentle,
I could not love you more.
You are so strong and committed,
and will hold on to your belief,
but not too strong to cry,
or ask for a handkerchief !
We always have fun on our trips,
memories that we hold dear.
Cruising or just time together,
like in Colorado later this year.
So these words are especially for you,
and in case I don't let you know:
I love you, I love you, I love you !
(I'll try to let my feelings show !)
But we need to reach out,
and hold each other more.
Let's not worry who makes the first move,
More cuddles - and that's the LAW !
Now these lines are inadequate,
(and not the best that's ever been penned),
But I just want you to know,
I'll love you until our journey's end. |

Thanks so much for the poem. The poem will be perfect and he will be SO surprised, and pleased, I think. I don't mind your publishing it or our story, but would prefer you change the names.
