40th Birthday gift to husband/step father who has treated the children as his own, a true family man

What is your name : Kathy Cambriello

Who do you want the poem written for: My husband/kids stepfather

Why do you want the poem written: To thank John on his 40th birthday for all he has done as a son/brother/husband/dad... He has assumed the role of "dad" for my kids since they have lost all communication with their real father from abuse.

What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): Happy, Funny, Grateful

Please choose which package you would prefer : Deluxe

Would you like a copy of the handwritten drafts : No

What are the key messages you would like to send: His closeness to his parents/brothers/sisters... His working two physically demanding jobs to provide for his "family"... and his willingness to step in and assume the role as a real father. His being a volunteer fireman and the hard work, time, and dedication to get there so he could help others. His Sunday rides on the motorcycle to Connecticut... His absolute love for his dogs... 2 German Shepherds & a Chocolate Lab... (his first dogs)

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: John always talks about when he was little and his whole family would gather on Sundays and eat and eat and eat. If you could fit in his love for Pellagrino's Chocolate Eclairs and now he has to settle for Artuso's... that would be great.
Our wedding, he was so nervous that his hands sweat so much, I couldn't get his ring on... All my girls made a tribute to him about how great he was and they all danced with him to the song "Because You Loved Me". I always tease him how his family sits around the table on the holidays and laugh over the same jokes but each time they laugh harder...
His family is extremely close! He enjoyed going to the nursery to get plants for the garden with his dad and always looks forward to mom's good homecooking...

Do you have any other comments or thoughts : I gave you a general background to help you get an idea of how you might want to work this... I am sure that I will have things to add as I think a little more. I just figured I could give you a starting point... Would you like first names of kids or family members to help? Please let me know. I don't need the complete project until the first weekend of November... Thank you!

The Cream

Hello, my wonderful husband,
these words are just for you,
because I'm proud of who you are,
and I'm very proud of what you do.

And I just wanted to say "I love you",
but in truth, I didn't know where to start,
so I thought I'd share a few feelings,
and give you some words, straight from the heart.

Firstly, I'd like to begin by looking skywards,
and thanking those in the heavens above,
because I know I've been blessed to have shared you,
I know that I've been blessed with your love.

I wanted to thank you being a fine son, brother, husband and Dad,
in truth, I'd like to thank you for everything you've ever done,
because your love has been my light, my inspiration,
in every way, you've been like my morning sun.

You've always been close to your parents and siblings,
but you've always worked hard to look after your family,
but more than that, you're a Dad, a volunteer fireman, and,
I wanted to thank you for making our worlds a great place to be.

You put in so much hard work and dedication just to help others,
so you deserve your "Sunday, it's Connecticut" motorcycle ride,
and I know my children couldn't have chosen a finer Dad,
I know they couldn't - even if they'd tried.

I also know that you have a great love for your dogs,
but you've always had a lot of love throughout your life,
and John, I just wanted to say I'm proud of you,
I'm very proud to be known as and called "your wife".

You always talk about when you were little,
your whole family would gather on Sundays to eat and eat,
and although you now have to settle for Artuso's ?clairs,
I also know that Pellagrino's are so hard to beat.

I'll never forget our beautiful wedding, but you were so nervous,
I couldn't get your ring on because of your shaking and sweaty hands,
but all of the girls made a tribute to you to say how great you are,
and those are words that everybody really understands.

They all danced with you to "Because You Loved Me",
and I don't think there's a more fitting song on this Earth,
because John, we do appreciate your true and honest value,
yes, we do appreciate your true and honest worth.

I know I always tease you about your old family jokes, and,
how each year, the same jokes just makes the laughter louder,
but as a family, you've always been very close,
and of you, I know they couldn't be any prouder.

You enjoyed the nursery and playing at the Roma Club with your Dad,
and I know you always look forward to your mom's home cooked fare,
but what about grandfather's home filled hard rolls and jelly donuts?
But I guess I know your favorite (yes, it's a Pellagrino's chocolate ?clair).

I also wanted to thank you for getting the girl's permits,
I guess it's two down with only one more to go,
but what I want to say is "John, you're the cream in my Pellagrino,
and I love you more than you'll ever know".

You assumed the role of "Dad" through tragic circumstances,
and their father took away everything a child has to lose,
but you've been such a wonderful inspiration to us all,
and to be brutally honest, he could never, ever fill your shoes,

So, I think I'll finish by saying simply: "I love you",
actually, I've never really described just how wonderful you are,
just know that if my love for you were a distance,
then it would be further than the furthest star.

I also wanted to say: "Happy 40th Birthday",
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you, John, you're truly wonderful,
and here's to our everlasting love, for evermore.
